Unit Retreat 2013

Hello everyone! :D

We have come to the end of yet another year in NPCC. We hope it has been a fun and fulfilling one for all of you! This is a great time for reminiscence, so let us reflect on our trainings for the past year, the lessons learnt, and most importantly, the bonds forged and memories created. :)

~

Our unit held a Unit Retreat on the 6th Dec 2013, Friday #tgif! The day started off with the CL squad having an evaluation and reflection session of the first half of our CL-ship, conducted by our chairperson and deputy chairperson, Gene and Benjamin. Each department prepared their reflection questions for evaluation, and the morning session emphasized on improvements to be made to the various departments, as well as the unit's overall discipline. The CL batch also evaluated the training progression and discipline of other squads, and large emphasis was made about everyone putting in a concerted effort and taking more initiative in order to uphold the unit standards.

Then came the fun part, GAMES! :D The cadets were split into teams and went around the school finding balloons within a time limit. Balloons were hidden by the CLs in ridiculous places like the dustbin HAHA, and more obvious places such as on the walls and stairs ;) Afterwards, the cadets had to tie the balloons around their ankles and they had great joy chasing each other around to pop the balloons of the other teams!

After warming up, the cadets started rounds of high energy Captain's Ball, which saw each and every one of them demonstrating skills of strategy and teamwork. The officers had some fun playing against the cadets too! All in all, everyone had the time of their lives, and many were left feeling exhausted and breathless after each game!

Game 2 Briefing

Beautiful night, casual vibes, great company...

Night fell... :) The respective squads gathered around their respective benches, preparing the equipments and ingredients for bbq. Arranged on the wooden benches were the wide array of food including chicken wings, sausages, bacon, sweet potatoes, satay, crabsticks as well as beehoon and fried rice. It took quite awhile for the barbecue pits to be set up, however, within no time at all, there was a roaring fire from each pit, which then simmered down to give red hot charcoals, providing the heat required to cook the food!

As the barbecuing subsided, everyone started to feast on the food, and it was truly enjoyable. Our ex-CLs came down to visit us, and everyone had a whale of a time catching up with each other whilst enjoying food barbecued with much effort! Despite creating quite a mess on the benches, the lively and merry atmosphere remained throughout the whole BBQ. Moreover, the BBQ gave everyone a wide avenue to bond and interact at all levels!

The night sky was filled not only with smoke and the fragrance of barbecued food but also the laughters of everyone, coupled with the picturesque scenery of the lake as well as an accompanying cool breeze, making the entire experience all the more memorable.

From Sarah, Sec 1 Squad:
"I feel that Unit Retreat really helped our unit and individual squads become
more bonded. During the games, we also had the opportunity to see the
fun side of the Sirs (something we can't see during trainings) :D
Overall, the Unit Retreat was really well-planned."

THANK YOU to the ICs for Unit Retreat, Sandy and Ariel, as well as the organising committee and all CLs for helping out! Hope everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves during this retreat!
