CCA Experience & Trial- Training on 17 January 2014

The second training of the year was indeed different from other activities too as the Secondary 1 students who just joined our school went around viewing exhibits of different CCAs. Of course, our Secondary 1 Squad Takers and the CL Squad have put in effort to make our CCA look as interesting and enjoyable as they can :D
During Muster Parade, badges and the Staff Sergeant Rank were given out to Cadets and Cadet Leaders. We want to congratulate Cadet Leaders Hui En, Benjamin, Elaine, Zi Gi, Si Ning, Gene, Jian Yang, Jonathon, Brydan, Li Ying and Ker Hian on being promoted to the Rank of S/Sgt!!! :D

The Secondary 1 students came down early and started viewing our exhibit outside the CL Room with various CLs explaining what our CCA is about and what we usually do.

Booth set up by the Sec 1 squadtakers!
An introduction to tent-pitching by Gene CL, our Chairperson and Sec 1 Squadtaker
Our CLs pitching a tent for the Sec 1s
Gene CL explaining the uses and parts of the tent
Li Ying CL explaining the uses and functions of a Hurricane Lamp

Now for the Secondary 2 Squad :) The Secondary 2 Squad had Tent-Pitching practice beside the canteen with the help and guidance of their Squad Takers.

The Secondary 3 Squad had their second CLTC session and had MOI Theory & Practical, Lesson Planning and leant to take Minutes.

To conclude the training, of course we had PT again :)
For PT, only the Secondary 2 Squad and CL Squad participated as the Secondary 3 Squad was busy with their CLTC. The main activity we did for PT was running around the lake and doing some pumpings. Running sure was tiring for most of our cadets and we hope to improve their stamina!

First Training of the Year - 3rd January 2014

The first activity of the year was indeed different from other activities in the past :)

For the Secondary 2 Squad, they practised their Tent-Pitching at the grass patch beside the Grand Auditorium in school as the ground in front of the CL room was wet and thus not firm enough for them to practice their campcraft :(
As for the Secondary 3 Squad, this was their first CLTC training! Although things didn't really start off well as they were punished for being late, I'm sure they will be more disciplined and work hard for the course in the following months in preparation to be the next batch of CLs :)
Lastly for the CL Squad, it was the first activity in the 2nd-half of our CL-ship and we will definitely put in more effort in preparing for the weekly training and to be more disciplined ourselves to bring the Unit to greater heights in the following months to come! Some CLs spent their time wisely in preparation for their Staff Sergeant test the following day by practicing  their drills and MOI skills.

The training ended with PT session which was also different :) As the Secondary 3 Squad had CLTC, only the Secondary 2 Squad and the CL Squad were present for PT. The PTIs decided to be more creative and thought of an exercise to train the arm muscles of our cadets. Everyone had to tie their water bottles, which were filled to the brim, with a twine to a dowel pole. They had to slowly turn the dowel pole to bring up their bottles and hold it there with their arms held up straight for a few counts before slowly releasing the dowel pole down. The cadets also did the usual pumpings in between doing this new exercise. I hope the cadets enjoyed this new way of exercising for their PT! :)
